76. One Study: How Active Video Games and Music Empower Cancer Patients and Build Resilience
Hi everyone, I'm Dr. Elhanan Gazit, and welcome to my podcast, Gamefulness x AI = Growth. I'm thrilled to launch "One Study"—a new segment where my AI co-hosts, Marshal and Daphne, and I unpack one scientific study and uncover practical insights to enhance our daily lives through my Gamefulness xAI Formula.
In our first corner, I share a decisive personal moment: my son Nir, a talented DJ, played music this week for children with cancer at a Purim event by the Israeli non-profit Larger than Life organization.
The organization provides Israeli families affected by pediatric cancer with emotional, logistical, and recreational support..
Seeing the kids and their families dance and smile with joy highlights the profound impact music and interactive shared experiences can have on resilience, well-being, and rehabilitation.
That's precisely the focus of today's study—how Active Video Games (AVGs), a growing field in MedTech, can help cancer patients by improving endurance, reducing fatigue, and enhancing quality of life. I also share the inspiring story of Ben's Game. Ben was a young cancer patient who created a video game with Lucas Arts developer to fight his illness—empowering himself and others with strength, control and agency.
I share that story with practitioners, parents, and educators in my keynote talk.
This episode delivers valuable lessons for all of us—not just kids. Tune in, share it with a friend, and discover how to build resilience and well-being through a Gameful Mindset!
"Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and everything."
- Plato
